Eco Products Ensure claims are not just eco

As more and more are becoming concerned about the environment and damage by global warming, the products are increasingly supplied with an eco-label.

All products environmentally friendly, however, correspond Claims are often made on the label and in many cases, the term eco was tagged onto a means of marketing, rather than powers real eco friendly.

The problem is now so endemic that many governments and trade authorities are taking steps with the Commission Federal Trade in America who has just revealed strict guidelines for companies wishing to use the show environment-friendly, green, low or other green conditions.

For consumers, this is a step in the right direction, because many products that claim be environmentally friendly, would not the criteria for a true environmentally friendly product should.

In general, criteria for an eco-friendly product can vary, but they should do at least one of the following:

• Save energy compared to similar products – products that use less or is the energy savings that similar solutions can not claim be environmentally friendly because its use is less harmful to the environment.

• Be manufactured from materials recycled or sustainable – everything is made from a renewable source, or takes advantage of recycled materials is also an environmentally friendly product.

• Be free materials and hazardous chemicals to the environment – the term "natural" is often used to describe these products, as organic.

• Be low in carbon, manufacturing operation compared with similar products – often this means use less energy, but if a renewable energy source is used, energy used does not matter as it is zero carbon and therefore does not contribute to climate change.

Many environmentally friendly products can often cost a little more in the initial purchase, but if they save energy in their use, in the long run they can save money too.
